We have some fresh news to share! Our partner Magento, now an Adobe company, was named as a Leader in the 2020 Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce research report by Gartner.

Magento has been a leader for the fourth year in a row and this year they have achieved the highest placement on the ability to execute axis when compared to 15 other participating digital commerce platforms.

What does this mean?

In this report, Gartner evaluated the viability of 15 vendors to help application leaders supporting digital commerce make informed evaluations. The report looks at only the top commerce offerings in the market with competitors such as Salesforce, Shopify, BigCommerce, Oracle, and SAP. So when you choose Magento, you choose to work with one of the best platforms out there.

Its recognition by Gartner strengthens Magento’s position as a dominant eCommerce solution for businesses around the world. Gartner believes in Magento’s ability to meet the consumer’s online experience needs as it delivers a complete eCommerce platform solution. What criteria were taken into consideration?

Gartner based their assessment by focusing on transformational technologies and technological approaches for delivering impactful solutions to clients.

For the ability to execute axis, Gartner evaluated all 15 commerce platforms on out-of-the-box capabilities and APIs abilities such as:

  • Storefront
  • Product pages & catalogue navigation
  • Shopping cart
  • Check-out
  • Customer account
  • Customer experience
  • Marketing execution
  • Operations

For the completeness of vision axis, Gartner based its evaluation on if the commerce platforms:

  • Understand the market
  • Have a clear marketing, sales, and offering (product) strategy
  • Have a localized strategy
  • Can adapt to different business models, verticals, and industries
  • Show innovation

Overall, Gartner evaluates the commerce platforms on if they are able to provide all the information a customer needs to make a purchase decision on its own and if they offer businesses an eCommerce solution that is innovative and flexible.
